Parks and Open Space
The mission of the Park & Open Space Program is to implement program elements of the Open Space Strategic Plan in order to promote a high quality of life for current County residents and future generations through the addition of new parks and open space resources.

The mission of the Park & Open Space Program will be fulfilled through attention to the following ongoing objectives:

1. Propose the means for acquisition and management of the open space system through interaction and cooperation of municipalities, public agencies, private organizations, and individuals.
2. Identify natural resources of the county for protection in order to maintain a balance between developed and open landscape, and to preserve rare or unique ecosystems.
3. Provide recommendations to maintain and operate County owned (Sister Grove Park and Parkhill Prairie) facilities, including programmed activities, as to protect and enhance the existing natural resources, encourage wise use of the facilities, and educate visitors about the program and the significance of County resources.
   

Special Projects
Special Projects is responsible for overseeing projects approved by the citizens of Collin County and special tasks identified by Commissioners Court, such as Road & Bridge Bond projects, Parks Foundation Advisory Board, Parkhill Prairie, Sister Grove Park, Trinity Trail and Bratonia Park.

Farm Museum
The Collin County Farm Museum is an institution dedicated to the promotion of a greater awareness and appreciation of the rich agricultural heritage of the region.

Myers Park & Event Center
The Myers Park & Event Center is dedicated for the educational and recreational use for the youth and citizens of Collin County.

Adventure Camp
The Adventure Camp, located in Westminster, is a place for hands-on study of natural sciences, designed for the students of Collin County.

Parkhill Prairie
A 436-acre preserve located in northeast Collin County, featuring a 52-acre relic of the Blackland tall-grass prairie and magnificent views of the countryside.

Sister Grove Park
A 75-acre hike/bike trail located between Princeton and Farmersville, adjacent to Lake Lavon.

Bratonia Park
A park for the radio-controlled airplane enthusiast, located east of Lucas adjacent to Lake Lavon.

Trinity Trail
An equestrian and hiking trail with trailheads located at Brockdale Park and East Fork Park adjacent to Lake Lavon.

Parks & Open Space Strategic Plan: Executive Summary
The Parks & Open Space Strategic Plan is a guidebook for adding new parks and open space resources in Collin County so that current and future generations can continue to experience the quality of life that makes the county such a great place to live.

Project Funding Assistance Program
Over the next six years (2009-2016), $17 million will be made available for the development and improvements of parks and open space within the county.

Regional Trails Master Plan
This multi-jurisdictional planning effort is intended to provide coordination and connectivity between cities and towns for the development of a county-wide system of trails.
